Keith Coffindaffer is a Senior Geologist at Phoenix Operating, with over a decade of experience in the oil and gas industry. He holds a BS and MS in Geology from West Virginia University, an MBA from the University of Oklahoma, and a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Tennessee.

Prior to joining Phoenix, Keith worked at Chesapeake Energy, where he contributed to the appraisal, development, and successful execution of over 175 horizontal well projects across the Appalachian Basin, South Texas Gulf Coast, and Rockies region. He played a key role in identifying and refining the geologic prospect behind Chesapeake’s $4B acquisition of Cretaceous-aged East Texas Basin assets, which later became a fully-fledged Business Unit for the company. He also enhanced Chesapeake’s understanding of Rockies regional petroleum systems by appraising and de-risking 3 basin-scale prospects across multiple basins, helping the operations team gain efficiency in the Powder River Basin. His expertise spans petrophysical interpretation, geologic research, and petroleum systems risk analysis.

Originally from Bridgeport, WV, Keith brings a passion for uncovering new geologic prospects and enjoys being part of a dedicated team operating in the Williston Basin. Outside of work, he enjoys music, fitness, hiking, digital design, and studying foreign languages. At Phoenix Energy, he aims to apply his geologic insight, creativity, and drive to help identify future growth opportunities and support the company’s continued success.

David Youngquist is the Manager of Data Architecture & Analytics at Phoenix Operating, with extensive experience in upstream oil and gas. He holds a degree in Economics and Political Science from Metropolitan State University of Denver and has built his career at the intersection of data, technology, and energy.

Before joining Phoenix, David worked across departments including Corporate Reserves, Drilling/Completions, Business Development, and IT, and led data initiatives at a tech startup in Boulder. There, he managed a team of analysts and engineers and helped secure $29MM in Series A funding and a $160MM DOE grant.

A Colorado native, David lives in Lakewood with his wife, Lindsey, their newborn son, and two dogs. Outside of work, he enjoys the outdoors and is a former college football conference champion.

With over 20 years of experience in the energy industry, Marc Barella brings a deep technical and operational background to his role as VP of Asset Development at Phoenix Operating. He holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering and an MBA.  His career has spanned multiple U.S. basins, working across disciplines including completions, production, geology, and reservoir engineering. Most recently, Marc led his own consulting group, providing technical and operational advice on modern completion strategies.

Marc is known for aligning capital and operational planning with financial goals, overseeing daily operations, and developing high-performing teams. One of his career achievements includes building and operating small gas plants with NGL extraction capabilities.

Originally from Philadelphia, PA, Marc now lives with his family in the foothills of Golden, Colorado. Outside of work, he is an avid snowboarder, mountain biker, and climber—and has snowboarded from the summit of all 58 Colorado 14’ers.

Marc thrives on continuous learning and brings a solutions-oriented mindset to every challenge. He looks forward to fostering a culture of innovation and contributing to projects that drive capital efficiency and long-term value.
